Recently I have been reading:

1. Maximum Ride series (4 books, starts with The Angel Experiment). These books are extremely fast-paced. The very beginning there is a fight and a kidnapping and the characters (who have avian DNA, so they have hollow bones and wings) go to save their little ’sister’. Very, very good. I have read 3 of the books so far.

2. House of Night series (Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed). Zoey Redbird lives in a world where vampires and humans co-exist. Zoey gets Marked, meaning she is a vampire and must immediately attend The House of Night, or else she will die. Zoey not only has to cope with a new life, new school, new friends, etc., but she is also the most powerful fledgling (not yet a vamp) in vampire history. Makes for an awesome read, with the conbined talents of a mother and a daughter, who co-write these novels.

The Devouring by Simon Holt.

I finished it two seconds ago and have to write about it. This book is the scariest book I have ever read! Actually, I’ve never been scared while reading a book, but I just don’t get scared whether it be a supposedly ’scary’ movie or a supposedly ’scary’ story or whatever.

The Devouring is about a freshman in high school named Reggie. She works at a bookstore, and there she finds an old book called The Devouring. It’s hand-written and looks creepy, so Reggie borrows it for herself. The book is a journal written by this crazy woman who writes about things called Vours. On Sorry Night, December 22, you have to shut off all heat so the Vours don’t find you. And don’t be scared, because fear attracts the Vours. If they find you, they will steal your soul and live inside your body.

Reggie and her best friend Aaron don’t believe it’s real (but it definately is, as you’ll find out) so they tempt fate and try to call the Vours by doing the things they are most afraid of. Nothing bad happens to them… But Reggie’s younger brother Henry is taken over by a Vour.

This book is so chilling, and written so much better than I had expected. I definately recommend it!

Vibes is a book about a high school girl named Kristi Carmichael. She’s not exactly normal, what with her disdain for almost everything around her (her hippie school, her workaholic mom, her friend Jacob) and the clothes that she makes out of bed sheets, umbrellas and other strange things. To make her even stranger, she is able to read minds. She tries to be tough, but she is actually very vulnerable. She can hear the thoughts of her classmates calling her gross and fat, including Gusty Peterson (the guy she really likes) who is always looking at her and thinking: Sick.

Well, things get worse for Kristi. Her father, who walked out two years previously, comes home and drops a bombshell. She is assigned to work on a school project with Gusty. With things Kristi finds out, she starts to doubt that she can read people’s minds.

I thought this book was good. Amy Kathleen Ryan writes this book very well.

I read a book titled Gone, by Michael Grant (http://www.amazon.com/Gone-Michael-Grant/dp/0061448761). Anyone over the age of 14 disappears one day. The teachers poof. Anyone driving poofs- leaving their cars, and any kids in the cars, to wreck. It’s absolute chaos.

And it’s got me thinking (and hopefull you, too)… What if everyone was Gone? (Okay, I’m fifteen, you may be older than fourteen… pretend you are the one exception). If you’re in the mood for creative questions and feedback that will make me smile ) , please answer one or more of the following questions.

(1) What would you actually do right away?

(2) Let’s say you’re past the part where you care about your disappeared parents and friends… Would you go and pilfer stores? Pilfer or live in someone else’s house? Where would you go? What would you take? (Keep in mind that if you left money for anything from a store, it would be taken swiped within seconds, so don’t worry about prices or ethics)

(3) Would you go and help anyone? The babies, crying and scared in their homes. The animals who are locked up at PetsMart?

(4) Um, anything else you want to add??

The lower shelf (one with the Victoria’s Secret dog on it) has the Twilight series (F A B U L O U S!!!!!!) (Stephenie Myer). The Host (Stephenie Myer… Starts of slow but it is definitely worth it I promise). Scott Westerfeld books… Uglies series (Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras) Midnighters series, Peeps (Peeps, The Last Days). There is The House of Night series (Marked, Betrayed, Chosen) (P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast)

Then, the next photo, top shelf, I get really really nerdy! It’s the Warriors series… It will sound ridiculous, I know. But these books are amazing! They are written by Erin Hunter. It’s about four Clans of cats who live in the forest: ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan and ShadowClan. They have to survive, they have a bunch of customs, and oh yeah, they fight a lot. There is alot of murder, scheming, betrayal, starvation… Who knew a Clan of cats could have so much drama? (Seriously, they rock! I started when I was younger, and by then I was hooked. Now I’m fifteen, and I’m still obsessed with the books. :)

I’m currently reading the first book in The Morganville Vampires series. It’s titled Glass Houses (by Rachel Caine). It’s about this girl named Claire Danvers. She’s sixteen years old, but she is extremely smart so she is a freshman in college. She attends a small college in Morganville. At the start of the book, she gets beat up and shoved down a flight of stairs by a bitch at her school, so she knows she has to get out of the school dorms. While living with her new roommates, she finds out that Morganville is inhabited by vampires, and Claire’s life is definately in danger.

(Previous Reads)

This is my first post on this blog, so I will tell you about some books that I read before starting this blog. I will only name a few, but some of them I hate to tell you about because they were so awesome!

So, there is a book called The Summoning (Kelley Armstrong). It is a book about a fifteen year old girl named Chloe Saunders. One day she starts to see dead people. So she is sent to Lyle House, a “special home” for troubled teens. Chloe isn’t the only ‘gifted’ person at Lyle House. (First book in The Darkest Powers series!!). http://www.chloesaunders.com./ and another site… http://www.kelleyarmstrong.com/aSummon.htm. (Check it out! I loved it, so did my friends)

Another book for you to read is called Rumors (Anna Godbersen). I can’t really say alot about it, because it is the sequel to The Luxe. It takes place Manhattan, 1899 (I know what you’re thinking, because I hate historical books as well… except for this one!). Here’s a link, please check it out because it is a really good series!! http://theluxebooks.com/series.vm#
